Two day bike adventure leaving from Portland, OR?

I'm taking a trip out to Portland, OR next week and I'd like to spend two days on the road, exploring by bike. I'm open to anything in the 100 mile range -- roundtrip -- give or take.

Can anyone suggest a really great route with sights to see along the way, including great towns, great nature, weird and wonderful things to see. I'd also appreciate some suggestions on places to spend the night.

I'm a novice biker, but I'm in relatively good shape and I'll have an electric bicycle to help me along the way!

I haven't ridden it (yet), but the newly opened Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway would be at the extreme end of what you're looking for. I know that a fellow MeFite works with Pedal Bike Tours if you're looking for something that's guided and shorter. Alternatively you could poke around here.

Bike south through the Willamette Valley, then Amtrak or Greyhound back north. You can get as far as Eugene if you really like biking, but Corvallis is a more reasonable estimate. I enjoyed this ride, which took two days going north. Day 1: Eugene -> Salem and Day 2: Salem -> Portland.

If you are just starting out and 60+ mile days are not the right thing, try Day 1: Portland -> Woodburn, Day 2: Woodburn -> Corvallis.

Two rides that I would recommend that are close to Portland, though they might not fulfill your 100-mile challenge:

1. Banks-Vernonia Trail: http://www.railstotrails.org/news/recurringfeatures/trailmonth/archives/0611.html

This is a beautiful ride, forgiving, super enjoyable ride. There are a lot of other trails in the western suburbs as well. I don't know how well they'd link up with Banks-Vernonia trail.

2. Historic Columbia River Highway. Lots of things to see along the way:
