You can do magic.

What freeware or shareware programs can I download to extend the capabilities of my Apple Magic Mouse?

As the owner of a recently purchased Magic Mouse, I'm interested in exploiting the hidden features of this product beyond the plain-vanilla pointing and clicking functions. Googling has pointed me in the direction of programs like Magic Prefs and Better Touch Tool, which purport to extend the capabilities of the mouse via a user-friendly interface.

Specifically, I'd like to be able to activate the button with a touch, rather than click (like the trackpad on a MacBook, or the new standalone Apple trackpad) and use a few additional functions. Nothing overly fancy-pants or arcane.

What are the best programs, in terms of a user-friendly GUI and minimal bugs and issues, available on the 'Net right now?

What's wrong with Better Touch Tool? I use it all the time without any problem. So, yeah, that's how I'd go.

I would recommend downloading both of the two you listed, and see which has an interface you prefer. Magic Prefs is the one I chose for slightly simpler modifications, at the cost of less 'power' than BTT.
