gmail overlords the system!

When I click on a link from a website, gmail comes up rather than thunderbird. Tbird is set as the default mail application. What gives and how do I fix this? I don't want gmail as the default mail application.

What browser and OS are you using? If you're using Windows then you'll have to change the default mail app inside of IE even if you are using another browser (At least in my case that's the only way I could get the correct mail app to open).
Open IE and go to Tools->Internet Options-> Programs Tab. You'll see the box to select what email program to use.

What white_devil said. Also, did you download the Gmail Notifier? If you did, in addition to making Tbird your default, you have to uncheck the Gmail option.

Sounds like you have the (a?) Notifier. It takes over mailto links by default.

I have the same problem, but my email browser (NS4.7) doesn't even appear in the program list of IE. Any ideas how to bring it to the attention of IE/windows? (Preferably not re-install it, use something else, etc)
