My plastic tortoise shell eyeglasses are corroding. Help me treat these so they look better. Here is a picture.
The manufacturer is See. Their website isn't helpful about the material, but it is some sort of plastic. The tortoise shell is corroding/turning white. Anything I can rub on these to make them look not so disgusting?

I had a pair of frames that I messed up--tried to reshape the bows by dipping in boiling water to soften. Don't do that. So they turned white. When I decided to revive them, I carefully sanded off the white bloom with the finest grit sandpaper I had and then polished them with either Armor All or NuFinish car polish or both. Came out okay. Has a sort of matte sheen which I prefer to shiny shiny.

You should be able to use a gentle plastic polish on the frames. I have used Novus Plastic Polish on a few different items and had good results.

I'm not being a smart-ass: try Turtle Wax. I've used it as a very gentle cleaner for things like that with good success.

Carmex - seriously. It works like a charm.
(the stuff in the tube, not the little tin).

Response by poster: both Carmex and Armorall looked great going on but then the stains reappeared after the products dried.

You need to remove the crusty material on the outside of the plastic. Plastic polish is a very fine abrasive and will do that.
