Emoji are mostly self-explanatory on the iPhone and very helpful, but there are quite a few that aren't easily understandable to me, a USian. Is there an emoji to english dictionary out there?

For example is this emoji night  or this one ? heart phone?  cross with a hole in the middle?

This extension in Safari 5 shows the emoji on this page correctly too. (You have to enable the Develop menu to allow extensions to be installed.)
