I need this job

Where would I find proof of a small private school's accreditation in 2004?

I have the opportunity to get a decent job in the field I am studying. I really need to find this info and I am having alot of trouble tracking it down. I've spent hours searching online trying to find something.

The school has closed down, it is now a daycare. I have tried calling and I can't seem to get anyone on the phone that can help.

Tried calling the Department of Education in this state, the lady on the phone spoke to me like I am an idiot, was very unhelpful.

It was a private high school in Madison County, KY. It has since shut down and now it is a daycare. Because it is no longer a school and is no longer accredited the prospective employer thinks it wasn't accredited between 2002-2004.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction... Was I right in trying the Dept. of Ed (and just got an ass on the other line)?

Best answer: You should try these guys. They can probably point you in the right direction. If not, these guys might be able to.

Yeah, was going to say NAIS. They're a good bet.

Best answer: Private/Independent schools go through a lengthy accreditation process, so there must be something on the books. Another route would be to contact other private/independent schools in the same county. At some point faculty members and/or administrators would have visited the now defunct school to observe and report.

Best answer: In order to be on the list of private high schools in Kentucky "Certified" by the state a school must be accreditied by a nationally recognized accrediting body. If you could get your hands on the 2004 list you would both prove that the school was accredited and find out the accrediting body. I'm not sure if she was the unhelpful woman from earlier, but Dawn (dot) Offutt at education (dot) ky (dot) gov appears to be the keeper of "the list" and the woman who knows about non-public school certification in Kentucky - contact info here.
