Find me some technical podcasts about networking protocols.

I have a job interview in about 13 days, and it will be very technical, covering low-level linux, networking, tcp/ip, smtp, http. I want to know about some podcasts that might teach me a thing or two.

I know most of this stuff fairly well (having passed a technical phone interview already), but would like to brush up on some details before the interview. I've not used much of it since my previous job, 5+ years ago.

I have a good idea of what I should be practicing while at a computer (they've given me some sample exercises), but I'd like to listen to some podcasts on my hour walk home each day.

Can you suggest some very technical podcasts about networking protocols, and general low level technical stuff.

Best answer: I've done a similar query about CS podcasts across websites, and as far as specific, ongoing shows, there's not much in the field. There's a lot of product review masquerading as news and how to use software tutorials. The best I've found on CS in general was via the blue, a colloquium from University of Washington.

If you're not needing ongoing broadcasts of new material in RSS XML, there is a good swath of recorded Linux conference proceedings. You'll have to pick and choose but there's a lot of places to start mining:

* Linuxconf.au
* FOSDEM
* (Ottawa) Linux Symposium
* Linux Plumbing Conference
* OSCON

Most carry video these days, although few are much more than the speaker standing in front of a minimal powerpoint display. They still work pretty well as audio only. For example, the audio recording of Tridgell on the rsync protocol, but he certainly had a slides during the recording.

Many, many have found Mike Tech Show's "Preparing For The Interview" very helpful.
Mike is responsible for hiring and gives great insider advice on what he would expect.
As a plus, he is very easy to listen to and the sound quality is exceptional.

I recommend this podcast to anyone who is looking for a job. Tech or not.
It stands the test of time

I have looked for this before, and come up wanting. Best thing I have found is lectures (UC Berkeley has many) for courses such as Operating Systems. These can be accessed directly from iTunes and other aggregators. For some reason there are very few good technical CS podcasts out there.

I am in the it field as a netowkr tech. Usually they will ask what you know . Some questions on what you would do in a situtation but nothing you have to PRACTICE for.

The hardware , and networking side of it is hard to Know everything. you are constantly learning and any btrue boss who heads the department would know that.

You dont want to work for somebody who knows nothing about IT. I have been down that route and it sucks.

Just relax and be yourself.

Response by poster: Thanks for the responses, I've loaded a few onto my iPhone for listening.

I also found the Google Developer Podcast which has some interesting stuff, mostly at the HTTP API level.
