Identify this French cookie/cracker.
My daughter just returned from a French foreign exchange trip. While there, she had a cookie/cracker that she really enjoyed, but can remember the name of. She said they were round, about 3-4" across, thin, and had almond and caramel flavorings. They were not filled. She described the packaging as "old timey". Can you identify these and point me to a source stateside?

Depending on just how thin they were, it may have been a French lace cookie. The ones sold at Costco are amazing (Lacey's toffee cookies, I believe), and so rich that you never have to worry about eating more than one in a day.

Langue de chat. Maybe. They're round-ish, almond-y, thin, unfilled, and very French.

How about these? I haven't found an almond version, but these are apparently shortbread-like, but crisper.

From your description, I immediately thought of stroopwafels, too.

Thirding the Stroopwaffel thought, though I've never seen those be almondy....

Stroopwafel afficionado here. I don't think so. Like polexxia said: there's no such thing as almond in stroopwafels, also a stroopwafel is filled entity. @cosmicbandito: any additional description might help, the variety of cookies in France is incredible. Something that might narrow it down: can you buy it in a supermarket? If so, try the websites like Carrefour

I'm betting on palets bretons, which are very buttery and a little almondy (the butter may taste like caramel to your daughter). Does she recognize any of these suspects?
