Who's Leia's Daddy?

Who's Princess Leia's "father"? (Alleged father, not actual father.)

Not her actual father Darth Vader, but the person she refers to in Star Wars:

General Kenobi: Years ago, you served my father in the Clone Wars; now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father's request to you in person; but my ship has fallen under attack and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed.

Did we ever see this person? I don't remember seeing a character like that or anyone being identified as Princess Leia's father in the prequels. Did he ever appear onscreen in any of the Star Wars movies?
But to be honest the prequels aren't pleasant memories and I may have blocked them out.

If I recall, her adoptive father is Bail Organa, the senator from Alderaan.

Best answer: To answer the rest of the question, he does appear on screen in the new movies. Also from Wikipedia:

Bail Organa – portrayed by Jimmy Smits
Leia Organa's adoptive father and one of the Rebel Alliance's founding members. He was killed in the destruction of Alderaan. Adrian Dunbar portrayed Organa for scenes cut from The Phantom Menace. Smits voiced the character for The Force Unleashed.
