crossword puzzle create

i am trying to create a crossword. it's very small with only 10 clues. i found this other post here and would like to use that website but i'm not sure where to start or how to black out spots in the grid. my clues are all very random. does anyone have any tips on where or how to start with a blank 15x15 grid (even that may be too big). thanks, matt

I've used this site when I already have a list of words and clues. It takes your words and fits them together where possible, spitting out a finished puzzle.
