What is the outside diameter of a regular 35" film canister such as this one?

I've tried googling but I can't find it. Please help me, MeFi!

2" tall and 13/16" diameter

Google for "film canister dimensions."

Response by poster: Are you sure that's correct, though? 16" in diameter sounds like a lot.

Response by poster: Oh, they mean (13/16) inches? I.e. 20.6375 millimeters? That makes much more sense. Apparently I'm an idiot.

Response by poster: Wait, no, that's too little.

Best answer: I believe that is 1 3/16" , not 13/16", e.g. 1 inch and 3/16th of an inch total

Best answer: I've just measured an identical-looking one with a digital caliper. The outside diameter of mine is 32mm (to the nearest mm). That's 1 1/4". The height is 2".

Response by poster: If hariya is correct that gives me a radius of 64.83 mm. If bottlebrushtree that gives me a radius of 94.76 mm. I'll try to measure those and see what feels right.

That canister is for a 35mm stills reel. Not 35 inches. Hariya has it right.

Response by poster: I think bottlebrushtree is correct. I tried cutting out two pieces of paper, one 65 mm and one 95 mm and the 95 mm one looks right.

I measured one of the several on my desk (though not with a caliper, a ruler) and my numbers match the numbers of le morte de bea arthur.

Actually, 1 and 3/16 is approx 1 and 1/4 (since 4/16 =1/4), so hariya and bottlebrushtree are both right. :)

They're not all exactly the same size; Fuji ones are narrower than Ilford. Otherwise, I couldn't <self_link>make your own 120 Film Cans </self_link>.
