How do I put the bobbin case back in my Singer 403A?

I decided to clean out my bobbin case and racehook in my Singer 403A. When it came time to put the bobbin case back in the machine, I couldn't figure out how to fit it back in! I looked at my instruction manual, but the directions and illustration are not very helpful.

Does anyone have any tips for inserting a bobbin case back into a Singer 403A? I just don't see how it should fit on the racehook and positioning stud. I did it once before, and it seemed absurdly easy, but I've some sort of strange mental block on how to do it again. I've been searching the internet for hours for detailed instructions, but to no avail. So any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I assume you've looked at this site, which is all about that family of Singer machines. There's a pdf on bobbin case removal, although the scan is poor and the diagrams don't look all that helpful in any case.

I have a somewhat more recent Singer and replacing the bobbin case is easy if you wiggle it just right, impossible if you don't. Kind of a sideways shimmy and drop, no force required, it's all in the wrist. So my suggestion is to take a little break to clear your head, then try again. It seems from the pdf that your machine also needs you to slide it sideways a bit, so just keep wiggling it gently and eventually it will drop into place easily.
