Help me identify this Australian university-set movie.

I saw this movie on TV at least 10 years ago, maybe more. The main character was a female university student. I think she had long dark hair. I THINK that the cast were primarily Australian, but not sure - probably American if not Australian.

There was one scene where the female student and some other people were lying on the grass smoking (possibly a joint). There was another scene, or possibly a succession of scenes, in which the student would go to one office on campus, and be told by an official that she had to go to another office somewhere else on campus, and so on.

I think the movie was a comedy-drama. I live in the UK, so I think it was probably shown on late-night Channel 4, back when they used to show cool stuff after midnight.

That's literally all I can remember about this movie except that I enjoyed it. It's been bugging me for years and years - what is it? I know this is a very slim amount of information but any help you can offer, glorious Hive Mind, will be immensely appreciated.

Thanks!

Best answer: Maybe Love and Other Catastrophes? It's Australian - set at the University of Melbourne.

This is totally a long shot, and I don't even remember if there were any on-campus scenes in this at all, but the joint on the lawn bit made me think of Scarfies.

I'd be really surprised if it wasn't Love and Other Catastrophes, as une_heure_pleine says.

Thirding Love and Other Catastrophes... though what you are describing is part of the universal student condition.

Yep, this is a scene from Love and Other Catastrophes: Frances O'Connor wants to change departments at Uni (her thesis is "Doris Day: Feminist Warrior") but she has to pay a library fine first, and gets sent from one bored campus official to another.

Response by poster: Thanks everyone! That sounds like a positive ID on Love and Other Catastrophes. That's 10 years of wondering put to rest.

Bonus points if anyone can point to somewhere it can be bought on DVD... but at a quick glance it's not clear that it exists. I can see it on VHS.
