How do I move to NS?

I'm moving from Edmonton AB to Antigonish NS and need to ship some boxes (clothes, small furniture, etc). What're my options?

I moved from Ottawa to here using Greyhound for most of my things and didn't have too much of a problem, only slightly smushed. But they don't go to the east coast. Viapaq doesn't service Alberta, DHL has a douche bag of a website and Canada Post has a severe limit on parcel sizes. Please help!

Have you talked to Acadian Lines? They go to Antigonish, and are presumably used to moving students into St.F.X.

I just moved from Ottawa to Halifax. After looking at the costs for renting a U-Haul or U-Haul trailer I realised that a moving company would be cheaper, and they'd do the lifting and moving for me. They quote and charge by the pound, and for all of my stuff it was just over a thousand.
SO, if you have a fair amount of stuff you might want to get a few quotes from movers - they'll just take your boxes and deliver them as part of whatever other shipments they have going to Antigonish. There are websites where you can request quotes from different companies. It was very easy, and they all seem pretty eager for business.
BUT, more to your original point, my mum just had to send me a box of stuff on the Greyhound from Ontario. It was sent on Greyhound but at some point transferred over to the Maritimes equivalent - Acadian Bus Lines I think they're called. So I think it might be possible for you to do the same. You should give your local Greyhound people a call.

Best answer: I made pretty much the opposite move (Halifax to Edmonton), and shipped a bunch of boxes on the bus. They managed to transfer from Acadian to Greyhound in Montreal without any intervention from me, and arrived safely in Alberta. Call Greyhound and find out if it works the opposite way!
