Children's story about a wooden chair that grows back into a tree?

It bears fruit, and populates a forest of chairs...

This book is mentioned & shown in Peter Greenaway's movie The Falls (1980) along with a lot of very imaginative illustrations. Some thumbnails of the illustrations shown are here. Its possible that the book exists only in the film, I suppose, but looking at all those illustrations makes me think it must exist. The film is British and the book might be too...

I don't know that film, but based on Peter Greenaway's other work, he's perfectly likely to have made it up himself.
