Sometime in the late seventies a story appeared in a Jewish kids' magazine; I'm fairly sure it was World Over.

I think the title was "A Nice Normal Name Like Bezalel"

The plot :
Bezalel starts at a new school and his (non-Jewish?)teacher has trouble with his name. She wants to call him by a nickname, but he doesn't like the idea. The other kids tease him, "Hey Butch, hey Buzzy, hey Bets-doll-fell!" Shortly afterward, the teacher tells the class about famous Bezalels in history and the kids let up. The next week a British boy starts at the school....."Evelyn! That's a girls name!" Bezalel is now happy with his name.

Does anyone know who wrote this? World Over is now defunct and googling doesn't turn up where its archives are kept.

A couple I know have just named their baby Bezalel and I wanted to give them a copy of the story.

This sounds really familiar, but I can't place it. I'll ask around!
