Fake a webcam feed?

How can I feed video content to a site/application as if it's a webcam source?
I want to prank a few friends - but my googlefu is failing me!
Basic idea is to film a realistic scene of me chatting on cam, but have the guys at work lay on some heavy visual effects (mutation, mutilation....suicide?) and then play it back as if it's real time (and then post youtube of course).
How can I achieve this?
(Must be windows based)

Not to be a wet blanket, but depending on the level of realism suicide may be a bit much for a "prank." You really don't know what sort of emotional baggage your friends may be carrying around with regard to that sort of thing.
