What are some good club-based music festivals?

Examples of music festivals that take place at local clubs?
When I travel, I like to see some of the local rock clubs and some good bands. I just got back from a few days in San Francisco, overlapping with the start of Noise Pop, which was great - well-run shows, events around the city, film and photo exhibits, etc. What are some other festivals of this type?
There's SXSW, obviously, and here in Canada we have Canadian Music Week and NXNE in Toronto, the Halifax Pop Explosion, and Pop Montreal.
I'd love to hear about similar events, especially in Europe or Asia that emphasize local music. Not really interested in outdoor shows like Pitchfork or Coachella, no matter how great the lineup.

Best answer: UK: the excellent Great Escape Festival (pretty much modelled after SXSW) and the Camden Crawl. If you come to Europe though, you should definitely check out a "proper" music festival.

Also, Wikipedia has a music festivals category. They don't have everything (e.g. no Providence Noise Fest, which may be defunct, actually).

Best answer: Twangfest, here in St. Louis. They try do both versions of "local"...at least a couple local bands, and all in local venues (including dive bars).

I'm pretty sure that Atlantis doesn't exist anymore.

Response by poster: Thanks everyone! Funny nothing for Continental Europe or Asia - is this type of event more of a North American thing?

Best answer: I think it is a North American thing to some extent - in Europe (continental and not), we much prefer being outside where we can get sunburned, smoke, bring our own drinks and camp under the stars rather than be cramped in the same clubs and venues where gigs are held for the rest of the year. The two UK festivals I mentioned are pretty big and attract people from all over Europe. Also, look out for Ladyfests.
If you want festivals actually on the continent, check out Sónar in Barcelona which takes place in the Center of Contemporary Culture and the Museum of Contemporary Art during the day, Popkomm in Berlin and Eurosonic in Groningen. I would bet on there being something similar in Tokyo too. Unfortunately, other big cities like Hong Kong and Singapore have very limited live music scenes.
