How to make moon in Wii Sports Resort reflect actual phases of the moon?

The moon in my Wii Sports Resort is always full. Shouldn't it reflect the actual phases and how I do fix it?

As far as I know, no, the moon doesn't vary. It's always full.

It's just a game...

I'm pretty sure the game only has a cycle of one day - high noon, dusk, midnight, morning, etc. So I don't think we have any reason to believe that the days are moving forward chronologically through the month.

Besides, playing at night without the light from the full moon would be pretty difficult.

Response by poster: I'm just going by all the tips I've seen online (I know...not the most reliable info). They've all been pretty consistent in saying this:

The phases of the moon in Wii Sports Resort are accurate and reflect the real moon phases you can see at night. You can see the Wii Sports Resort moon during events like Island Flyover and Archery (at night).

I don't know anything about the Wii, so excuse me if this is a stupid response, but I thought I should mention it anyway:

Have you set the time-of-day clock on the Wii? And the calendar day?

Like you say, there seems to be an online consensus that the moon phases are supposed to be correct.

However, according to this blog's author, "WuHu Island, I believe, stays in a perpetual Full Moon phase, and is privy to many tiny shooting star sightings."

Assuming that your system time/date is correct, maybe your Wii's moon is only perpetually full at WuHu Island, and is in the correct phase elsewhere?

Hmm. Or, if the whole thing takes place on WuHu island, which it looks like it might, at least you and the blog author have the same bug, assuming that the "accurate moon phase" thing isn't just a myth...

For what it's worth, I looked at six nighttime videos of Wii Sports Resort on YouTube and all of them showed a full moon. It seems very likely the moon doesn't change.

Response by poster: I do have the time and calendar set correctly. The only thing I can think of is that it's a feature that needs be unlocked somehow rather than happen automatically.

Is your Wii connected to the Internet? We have been enjoying "Mario vs. Sonic at the Vancouver Winter Olympics", and one of the features is that the game will use the actual weather at the Olympic venues, but it has to be connected to the Internet to get that information. I realize that lunar phases can be determined from a table, but I'd also bet that the game developers figured it would be just as easy to get the right lunar phase from an online source. Just a consideration.

Best answer: I looked at some videos and photos too... all had either no moon, or a full moon. I'm wondering if the moon phase "easter egg" is just all lies. Or if, like you say, it really does need to be unlocked. It seems odd that none of the cheat sites seem to say how to unlock it, though.

If you don't get any further here, you might try posting to a (or several) Nintendo or Wii Sports Resort forum(s) and asking about other people's moon phase experiences.

You could also try asking the person who submitted the moon easter egg at a lot of the cheat sites about it. (Sign up for a free IGN account and private message him.)

Have you used the weather channel on Wii with any frequency? I feel like that might one of those channels where if it hasn't been opened in months, the Wii doesn't download the data (and any game that uses the data won't have it).

try contacting nintendo and ask them. it might take a few days, but you'll generally get an accurate response from them.

Response by poster: Sounds like the moon phase easter egg claims are wrong. Here's Nintendo's response to my question via email:

Many details about our games will remain mysteries, left to the active imagination of the player.
