How 'bout them AZ lights?

Any of you MeFites seen these spooky and supposedly "unexplained" Arizona Lights I've been hearing about?

I recently watched a mostly lame documentary on the subject through my online selections at Netflix. It did intrigue me slightly, especially when my sister who once lived in St. Johns, AZ, told me she saw unaccounted for lights on more than one occasion while stargazing on her grandfather-in-law's cattle ranch. The documentary described them as typically triangular in formation, slow-moving and suggestive of tracking lights on some ginormous aircraft. The sightings were mostly, I believe, 90's and later with none especially recent... anyone? anyone? Bueller?

There were a couple incidents; one was military flares (The Phoenix Lights Explained (Again)) and one was a hoax.

Response by poster: Right. I was aware of the flares explanation, so I suppose I should have clarified I was more wondering if anyone here had seen them personally and what their impression was of said explanation based on that experience. My sister seemed to disagree strongly with it and I certainly wouldn't call her bullheaded, schizotypal, or unintelligent.

Driving between Yuma and Tucson one night I saw odd lights appear and slowly fade over and over in the southern sky. They burned very bright and lit up the desert below in a greenish color for about 3 minutes at a time. After questioning my sanity and a bit of speculation I wrote them off as Border Patrol Business.
