Help Me Find Another "I Love You" Song

Ridiculously little to go on, I know, but do you know what song this is?
The artist is similar sounding to The National and the main refrain is "I Love You".
When I heard it, I also thought the lead singer sounded a lot like Lou Reed. So the main vocals were male, but there was an intermittent female harmony. I didn't catch the lyrics in between the "I love you" part, but the deep husky voice of the main vocalist make it unmistakable.
That's all I've got, I'm afraid. I heard it in a cafe and can't get it out of my mind. I hope it rings a bell for someone out there....

(sorry, this is a better version, and it's just Lou, but maybe there's a version with Nico on it somewhere out there.)

Response by poster: oinopaponton, you're a star. I listened to both, but neither are quite what I heard in the cafe. I'm going to go searching for covers of this though... thanks!

Alright - this is definitely not Lou Reed, or The National for that matter, but it does repeat "I Love You" over and over again, has intermittent female harmony, and features a deep voiced male - plus it's a flat out great tune: Say Hey (I Love You) by Michael Franti & Spearhead.

Could it be the Dandy Warhols' "I Love You"?

That is the name of it, and it's the first thing I thought of too.

Response by poster: So far, it's neither Michael Franti and Spearhead, The Pixies, nor the Dandy Warhols--but thank-you to Rewind, supermedusa, and palomar!

Deep husky voice + intermittent female harmony + lots of "I love you" = Magnetic Fields to me. It's likely not this song, but does it sound like the same vocalists?
If so, you might want to take a look at the lyrics for 69 Love Songs--there are three volumes worth.

Response by poster: sallybrown: thank-you, it does sound very close!
I'm going to start wading through their music.... could take awhile. But even if it isn't them, at least I found 'papa was a rodeo'...! Great stuff.

Could it be Silly Love Songs by Paul McCartney? It has female vox interspersed with the "I love you" chorus around 1:35
