How to make pictures fill the column on blogger?

How do I make pictures larger on my "blogger" based blog.
No matter what size I make them in photoshop, pictures do not get larger on blogger. Are there pre-set sizes that blogger accepts? or pre-set dimensions? limits on file size? I cannot figure out how to make pictures fill the entire column as I see in many blogger blogs. For example see how large the pictures are in this blog:
http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/
and specifically, that they seem to take up the entire center column in either portrait or landscape. Any help would be much appreciated!

I can confirm that the hack above is what I use. It's a bit of a pain because you have to edit each post by hand, but I'm fastidious that way so it works for me.
