Help me understand Facebook privacy settings

How can I hide all posts by me from a list of friends on Facebook?

There's an option under Facebook Privacy settings for that, but it hides my whole wall! I still want people to be able to see posts from my friends.

Before you finish a post, click the little lock icon next to the Share button, then choose Customize. That pops up a window where you can hide the post from a particular Friend group.

You need to go into Friends and create a new friends list and add those people to the list. When you make a post, you can choose which friends lists to block from seeing it.

Response by poster: I'm importing the posts from a tumblr blog, so I cannot modify the settings in the little lock item -- maybe there's a way to block friend lists from seeing posts from a certain application.

To follow up on the suggestions from smakfu and pravit, once you've added those friends to a list, you can go in to your privacy settings and customize them so that list can't see certain stuff.

Ah, that makes it trickier. Maybe try changing the default privacy for "Posts by Me" here? That has the same Customize privacy setting that lets you exclude a list of people. I don't know for sure that it applies to application posts though, so I would test it.

Response by poster: Yes, I tried the "Posts by Me" setting, but it but it hides my whole wall! (I still want people on the excluded list to be able to see posts from my friends.)

First, create a friends list and add everyone you want to exclude from seeing the posts.
Then, in the toolbar at the bottom of every Facebook page, click "Applications" on the left side.
Click "Edit Applications" in the menu.
Find the application you're using to import from Tumblr (the Notes app, or something else?).
Click "Edit Settings" next to the app in question.
Under "Privacy" you can exclude that entire list from seeing the app.
