Need an alternative to 48hourprint

I need an alternative to 48hourprint.com. They were great until this weekend when I placed an order with overnight shipping and due to the holiday it won't get here till Friday. I have to use Kinkos for now to get the order done on time, but I want to take my business elsewhere for future projects.

Why do you want to stop using a vendor who has provided you with great service when you have a situation resulting from a holiday? Their 48 hour guarantee clearly states that holidays are not included in the 48 hour service. It sounds more like your job was either larger than their 48 hour limit, required more finishing, or you didn't allow sufficient time when you submitted it. IOW, from what you've said, this doesn't seem like a situation to go vendor shopping from this one incident. Just saying...

I've always had good luck with 48hourprint.com, although you're right, there are exceptions to the service turnaround implied in their name.

Where are you located? Are you open to Internet printers and/or print brokers? Or do you want to stay local?

Response by poster: Ok numerous reasons.

Lets do some simple math here. 2 business days (non holiday) would be Tues/Wed. It won't get shipped out till Thursday, and over-nighted here Friday. I need it here on Thursday.

The lady did ABSOLUTELY nothing to keep my business. Basically made me seem like my business, no matter how small, was not worth it to them.

When the order was placed, it should have given me a delivery frame. I didn't realize that today was a holiday due to the fact that my bank, my job, my daycare are all open today. Yet a print shop is not.

I am still confused as to why if it is done on Wednesday it can't ship out on Wednesday. The lady had no answer other than "Because it ships out the next day"

The explanation of the 48 hour guarantee explicitly lays out what you can expect, which seems to match exactly what the lady told you.

If the proof is in by Monday at 5, it will ship Wednesday. Since today is a holiday, your order will be in by 5 Tuesday, which means it will ship Thursday. I am sure this is not convenient for you, but you can't blame them for being deceptive. The whole thing is spelled out pretty clearly.

Regardless of that, the interaction has seemingly soured you on 48hourprint permanently, so you should look at Mimeo.com and see if they can handle your needs. My g/f uses them for printing jobs and so far has been happy.

at work, we sometimes use mimeo if we have a tight turnaround project and our regular print shop can't meet the deadline. from mimeo's site:

"The location of our printing facilities also makes it possible to accept orders up to 10 p.m. EST for delivery the next morning by 8:30 a.m. in North America and in 2 days to most of the world. As a rule of thumb, shipping is approximately 15% of the print total."

I don't think the following are as speedy, but perhaps more consistent:

Overnightprints.com
PSprint.com
123prints.com
vistaprint.com (this is the only one I've actually used, but they will most likely not fit your tight deadlines, as you have to pay a lot extra for expedited shipping).
