Font problems with Indesign

Indesign CS and OT fonts short version: can't access OT features on a font LONG VERSION INSIDE

I've tried the following: completely removing the font from the system, removing all registry entries related to the font, and removing all font caches and *.lst files (i.e. AdobeFnt07.lst)
Reboot
Reinstall the font
Open InDesign
Same problem
BUT the font works on my other system with an older version of InDesign and isn't having a problem accessing small caps, ligatures, or all the rest. I'm at my wits end.

I've also reinstalled InDesign.
If it helps I'm running:
WinXP Pro Sp2
InDesign CS

Does it only happen to a specific font or all OT fonts? Who makes it? What about installing the older version of InDesign on this machine - does it work then? Where are you installing the font? Are you using a font management app (ATM, Suitcase, Font Reserve, etc.).

Give as many details as possible.

Response by poster: I made the font. I generated it and did some mock ups with it before deciding that the default metrics were too tight. I adjusted them, removed the otf file, recompiled the features, and regenerated. Since then I haven't been able to get the font to work on my XP machine running InDesign CS, though I've done everything I can think of including rewriting the features and regenerating the font with a new name. All versions work on my older machine running winME and InDesign 2, so I am convinced it is not the font. But all other adobe apps won't recognize the features for this one font, although they have no problem with other OT fonts. Oddly, InDesign will still apply ligatures and kerning but not the rest. It isn't the font because it works fine on an older machine. I was using Suitcase but removed it to see if that would make a difference. It didn't help. I've also deleted everything I mentioned above. I even re-installed InD

The fact that your font works in version 2 is fine, but CS is a different application and it has a number of improvements and updates in how it handles OpenType (fwiw - each version of InDesign has been a huge improvement over the previous one.) Not working with your home-brewed font is an unfortunate side effect of these changes.

Response by poster: but it did work with my font the first time I generated it. Only afterwards did it not work. Plus, there is nothing wrong with the feature definitions, classes, or encoding, it is a valid, sound, otf font.

Have you contacted Adobe Technical Support (206-675-6311) or reported this as a bug? That really sounds like the next step for you. They can't fix the product if you don't tell them there's something wrong with it.

Response by poster: I was waiting to see if it was some weird font caching thing or something, but I guess not. So that is my next step, certainly.
