GilbertoFilter? I am trying to learn the name of a specific song by Astrud Gilberto. The now-defunct Bossanova FM internet radio station used to play it. The song's catchy and upbeat (I can hum the tune, but of course don't know any of the words . .) and the main theme/message is that a woman always has to work. It isn't on the 'Finest Hour' collection, and it appears to not be referenced anywhere online . . . Might anyone know this song or at least have a good guess at it?

Response by poster: And . . the question has already been answered by a metafilter-reader from New Zealand! She says the name of the song is "Maria Quiet." I am pretty well pleased and impressed and will go to sleep feeling happy (and I will send out some good karma, via mind-beams, to NZ pronto).

You might also check out an a capella version of (what I think is) the same song: "Maria Lando" by Susana Baca. It's available on Putamayo.
