MontanaTheDog Breed?

Alex Albrecht is the host of a weekly web-show called Diggnation. He owns a dog that is sometimes on camera during the show. I'm trying to determine what breed she is likely to be.

She has her own Twitter account: @MontanaTheDog

It is likely that Alex doesn't even know her actual breed, as he has stated several times that he found her on Montana Blvd and so that's what they named her.

I have tried to contact Alex directly, but he hasn't answered my emails or tweets. (surprise surprise)

There's a small thumbnail pic on the twitter page.
Montana is also featured in the iPhone application iLick....but that costs a buck.

Thanks!

There's a bigger pic of Montana when you click on her Twitter thumbnail, but she's wearing a blanket. She's got cattle-dog-esque ears, at least, but I don't think she's a cattle dog.

Could it be an Australian Cattle Dog?

Not a purebred Australian Cattle Dog, a mix might even be a stretch of the imagination (but it's really tough to tell from the photo provided and another I find online has nothing to compare size). Incorrect color, coat type, etc. (though a LOT of mixes are labeled as ACD mixes).

As a point of reference, I have done ACD rescue for 20+ years and when resources allow we will rescue "acd-like" dogs or mixes and Montana (as cute as she is) would not likely make the cut.

My guess is that's a mutty mutt mutt, but could have some basenji in there.

"Most likely a Chihuahua mix." - my girlfriend

Jaltcoh's girlfriend is right, IMHO. Looks a lot like a chihuahua mix I had years ago, and not much like the Australian dog that we had and that my in-laws favor on their farms.

As a devotee and caretaker of three mutty mutt mutts, she is definitely just that: a mutt. Of inestimable distinction, of course, for there isn't a better "breed" to be found. My carpet, too, is infested with a shark, also known as a chihuahua, who is rather large and chunky for his breed. She bears no resemblance to him.

I've often wondered myself. Facial structure says she may have some Pitbull in her, deep down the line. Her size and ear's say no, though. Difficult to tell, really.

She also looks like she has that 'street shepherd" in her that I seem to see in so many street mutts.

Response by poster: Glad I'm not the only one that can't figure that one out :)
Thanks for the input everyone..I really appreciate it.

Best answer: I just checked with Kevin, and he confirmed that Alex doesn't know the breed of his dog. So the conjecture here seems as definitive an answer as we'll get.

Not purebred. Mixed mutt.
