Where in the world can I find a black, dual single-pole light switch?

Electrical Product Filter: I'm going out of my mind trying to find a dual single-pole switch for my kitchen. In black. I can drive to Home Depot and get one in white or ivory, but heaven forbid anyone carry it in black.

I don't really care if it's a standard duplex or a Decora style. It just needs to have two switches on it to control two different lights in my kitchen. Oh, and it needs to be in black, of course.

I know everything is already properly wired for it - I'm actually replacing a white dual switch (we did a full kitchen remodel - white is out and black is in).

I've gone to several contractors, I've searched online. I've found brown no problem, but not black. Seriously, how hard can this be?

Can anyone out there give me a link or a company or anything that can help?

Best answer: Like this?

I had to undergo a similar search to find a SPDT Center-Off switch for an old low voltage hallway light system and ended up buying it on ebay for a fraction of the price quoted to me by an electrical supply store.

Best answer: I did find this one, but it's a rocker style. Some brands to look at besides Levition are Lutron and Pass & Seymour. Good luck! Black is a pain :)

Best answer: You could just spray paint the ones you've got, including the covers and screws -- why not? Hit them with a touch of steel wool, paint them with a good satin paint -- viola!

Have you gone to an electrical wholesaler the place where the contractors go?
They make cash sales to anyone

Heh, heh. Well, you did chose a non-standard color, you know. In fact, when Cooper Wiring Devices released a Decora-style double light switch in black, they thought it was so revolutionary, they issued a press release:
PEACHTREE CITY, GA Oct 27, 2008 – Cooper Wiring Devices announced a newly designed line of stylish Decorator Combination Devices today. The new line provides a variety of space-saving solutions with versatility, quality construction and smooth actuation. A new color, black, is offered; the devices are also available in Almond, Light Almond, Ivory and White.
And to think, only 14 months ago, man had not yet envisioned such a miraculous invention. By next week, one will be installed in your kitchen. If that's not evidence of the approaching singularity, I don't know what is.

Response by poster: Thanks so much for the links, guys. My Google skills just weren't turning anything up. It might have been because my knowledge of such things isn't very deep, so I just didn't have the right vocabulary to find it.

@SatansCabanaBoy, I've been to several wholesalers in the area and they haven't even been able to find it in any of the vendor catalogs they order from.

@ryanrs, I knew I was doomed after picking a non-standard color after a few trips to different wholesalers. The second I'd say "...in black" they would start vigorously shaking their heads saying, "no sir, you ain't gonna find it."

@dancestoblue, I thought about painting the existing switches, but I was worried about them visually standing out and looking too different than the wall plate and from the duplex outlet they are sitting next to (I have to double switches, and they both are paired up with an outlet, which is info I left out, however unnecessary to the question). But your comment made me revisit the idea and I think I'll run to the store and today and give it a go - it's worth the risk if it indeed does end up working and I don't have to order new ones.

Whether decora or regular, parts of the switch that rub against each other are going to be visible. I'll be impossible to paint these portions and have the switch operate without the paint wearing off.
