Identify this 80s (I think) horror movie.

When I was young, say 6-ish (circa 1983-4), I remember sneaking out of my room late while watching horror movies from behind a plant, without my parents knowing. One of these movies contained a scene I have remembered ever since. The internet, my parents, and even some horror experts have been unable to point me in the right direction.

What I remember of the scene is this: A woman is in a bathtub. There may or may not have been nudity. A sea-creature, merman, gill-man, whatever (think black lagoon) comes out of the bathtub drain, and chases her down some stairs. At that point I believe I was scared and ran back to bed.

I have been trying to figure this out off and on for nearly 30 years. I have been suggested a bunch of movies this could have been. The Monster Squad (87) is the closest I came because it contains the right kind of monster, but alas it was too late in the decade I think, and was not the movie I am looking for.

I really do not want to go to my grave still wondering about this. Hell is never knowing the answer. I don't care if the movie is good or bad (though I assume its bad since I didnt see it again), I just want to end this mystery and go on trying to remember other things.

As I write this I am halfway through another suggestion, House, but it doesnt have the right feel, and the "scary parts of House" video on youtube didnt have the scene.

PLEASE, somebody, somewhere has to have seen this movie.
