Where to get Plan B on Christmas Day in DC?

A friend of mine had a broken condom last night, and needs to get hold of Plan B. She's in Washington, DC. Planned Parenthood's closed, as are all the pharmacies she's tried.

Those are the relevant facts - please assume she knows what she's doing re: testing, etc. Moralizing can be left at the door, she just needs to know where to get the EC.

Check this locator page.

It lists 48 locations that sell Plan B within 10 miles of Washington, DC.
Maybe you could go down the list until you find one that's open.

Emergency room. Go to GW, not Georgetown.

Agreed with GW's emergency room. It's more accessible than Georgetown's...

There's a 24 hour Walgreens on 22nd and M, which I'm pretty sure is open today:

1217 22nd Street Northwest
Washington, DC 20037-1203
(202) 776-9084

Call them and ask if they have it.

Georgetown is Catholic, so don't go there. But try the 24-hour pharmacies before you go to the emergency room.

There's a 72-hour window for Plan B, so make sure she knows this isn't a dire speed emergency.

Don't suppose she has any friends with birth control pills to spare? Many kinds of BCP can be used as emergency contraception (brands and dosages here).

Also, if your friend has any female friends who are willing to give/sell her a pack of their birth control pills, look and see what brand they are and then your friend can take a combination of those according to this chart (scroll down to the bottom for the chart) from Planned Parenthood.

Hmm. Interesting point about Georgetown being Catholic. I was just thinkng GW because it's more centrally located.

Sorry, click under the 'how do I use emergency contraception' section for the chart.

But the sooner she takes it, the more effective it is...

Response by poster: Thanks everyone for your help - I'm not sure exactly what worked out for her, but the situation is apparently now under control.

Technically, Georgetown University Hospital isn't owned by the university. But I didn't know if there was some agreement that they not carry birth control in the agreement between the University and the mega-hospital corp that runs it. That's why I suggested going to GW. Didn't even think of the location angle, which is certainly true.

Best of luck to your friend.
