Thinning Eyebrows

EYEBROW FILTER: Has anyone tried using either Rogaine or LiBrow to stimulate hairgrowth in over-50, overly plucked eyebrows?

My eyebrows have thinned out and I don't think the Anastasia brow stimulator product I've been using is working. I understand Latisse doesn't work. I'm considering trying LiBrow or Rogaine but curious if it works. Or any other recommendations will also be appreciated..............

I recently learned that thinning or absent outer eyebrows can be a sign of low thyroid. I've started seeing a physician with a specialty in hormone replacement and anti-aging, and I've been very pleased with the results (I'm 56). Ditto for my 58-year-old husband.

I was diagnosed with low thyroid and have been taking natural (dessicated) thyroid for four months. My eyebrows are beginning to fill back in. Can't prove it's because of the thyroid, because I'm also replacing hormones, etc., but I've read about it in several places.

Good luck!

Did you see these articles?

It's not a growth stimulator, but I thought this gel sounded intriguing.

anon, I have a noticeable thinning in my part (on top of my head) for a couple of years (I am female and 59). My doctor sent me to a dermatologist and he stated that he felt the balding/thinning is simply "age-related". I am still some baffled by that because both my parents had no thinning into their 80's. I, like many others like me I presume..am very unhappy with this loss. I first tried female Minoxidil from Walgreens. Messy! I gave it up pretty quickly. Then I tried vitamin supplements. Insignificant results. Recently it has gotten so bad I have even thought about the idea of a wig! God! (Hear me out, I know your post is about eyebrows). I googled female hair loss and found something from someone who has been using the male Rogaine in the foam. She used it on both the hair and her eyebrows and found it successful. Her post made me want to try Rogaine again.

I am into my 2nd can of the male version foam (using 2 times a day for about 6 weeks) and just yesterday I noticed a significant improvement. The thing to remember is that it takes awhile to show any improvement, but when the improvement shows up..it is worth it. If it works this well on my long established problem I know it would work for you. The drawbacks are getting discouraged until you do see the improvement..(it almost seems worse before it seems better), the mess (the foam is an improvement, but it is still messy), the expense and the fact that when you quit it the problem reappears.

Be careful, of course, not to let it run into your eyes. Get the foam..everyone (online in the hair loss forums) agree that it is much better than the liquid. I bought it on Amazon. It is cheaper there than anywhere else.

Have you heard about latisse? It's made for thicker eyelashes, but I've seen a lot online saying that doctors have prescribed off label use for growing in thicker eyebrows.
