Where can I buy lower-rise women's suit pants?

So, I have to buy some suits for the first time. So far, I've just looked in Macy's and Jones New York.

The waists on all of the suit pants I've tried on have come up to between just above my belly botton, and just under my bra. I find this insanely uncomfortable.

I would like to find pants with waists that, ideally, fall on/slightly above the hips and below the belly button like men's suit pants seem to.

Is this out there anywhere?

If not, would it be possible for a tailor to take the waist of a pair of pants down??

Best answer: target always did me well with this problem.

you might also look at more teen/trendy type of stores. they should sell some of their dress slacks as specifically low rise.

Best answer: Would you consider yourself to be short-waisted? If so, try a petites section since it sounds like that might help you. Otherwise, J.Crew and Banana Republic have some nice suit pieces to mix and match in a range of fits.

Best answer: Tahari tends to have a lower rise than many other manufacturers of suits.

Best answer: Talbots has a below the waist "signature fit," Ann Taylor has a low rise "modern fit " style, and Eddie Bauer has a new low rise "Shaw" fit.

Best answer: Another vote for J. Crew suits -- their lowest rise is called the City fit.

Best answer: I'm small and a bit short-waisted, so I know exactly what you mean about the pants-around-the-ribcage thing. So-called "low-rise" pants are the only ones that sit where they're supposed to for me, and I've had good luck with Banana Republic (most of mine are Martin fit, like these). They're not super-low (so still professional), and the cut and fit are generally really nice.

For the record, Express has low-rise pants, but they pretty much have one cut now, The Editor. It's supposed to be the "best fitting pants" but they don't fit me at all. Just a warning.

I feel your pain. I'll second J. Crew and Banana Republic. I used to love Express, but I swear they changed the editor pant at some point in the past few years and I haven't bought anything from Express since.

I've gotten some decent suits at Benetton that are very comfortable and sit low.

I don't know what your budget is, but Hugo Boss might work.
