Cherry cola in Toronto?

Where can I get Cherry Cola in Toronto? I'm not particular as to brand, and I'd prefer to take it home but if necessary will go to a diner or something that serves it.

Alternatively, can I make it?

I'm confused, you can't find a place that sells Cherry Coke or Cherry Pepsi in Toronto?

If we're talking about the same thing, mixing grenadine syrup and regular coke makes wonderful cherry sodas.

You might have some luck googling 50's diners in Toronto. All the ones in the U.S. will make cherry and vanilla cokes.

(Cherry Coke is not sold in Canada.)

Not sure if this is the case in Ontario, but a lot of the 7-11's in Saskatchewan have the fountain drinks set up so that you can mix fountain vanilla, cherry, or lemon soda with anything that comes out of the fountain.

Its not exactly like Cherry Coke (which I love but can't get owing to Canadian-ness) but its close.

I've had Cherry Coke in Canada -- it's the first place I ever had it. Perhaps it is just rarer these days.

You could also just add Shirley Temple mix to coke, no?

re: the maraschino cherries recipe above:

In addition to the cherries, pour a tablespoon or 2 of the cherry liquid into your cola drink. Sweetly delicious!!

That's grenadine. Grenadine+7up=Shirley Temple. Grenadine+Coke=Roy Rogers.

(Which is to say, you can go just about anywhere and order a Roy Rogers.)

Where to buy Cherry Coke in Canada.

Thanks for a link that says that you can't buy cherry coke in Canada.

"Go to the US and buy it" might be practical for those next-to-the-US people in Ontario, Quebec and the lower mainland, but for those of is in Alberta's major cities, where "pop down to the US and buy it" means AT LEAST a 4-hour drive, this is just mean and completely unhelpful.

You have to make your own.

I'm not sure why it hasn't been suggested but you can just buy it online from the US. I'm sure there are better places but since I was looking at this one today, here's an example store.

Call Sugar Mountain at Yonge and Eglinton. I haven't been in there in years but last time I was, they stocked a cherry cola.

Lick's has several locations in Toronto and they sell both cherry and vanilla cola (Coke mixed with syrup). They will even top it with whipped cream for you. I would suggest that buying the syrup is vastly more economical than getting it at Lick's though.

We used to get Coke's cherry and vanilla flavours but I haven't seen those around in stores for a few years.

Go to whatever the canadian equivalent of Costco is (which may, in fact, be Costco, I don't know) and buy a giant jar of cocktail cherries. I mean, this jar should be bigger than your head. As someone upthread suggested, adding the sugary juice from these to regular cola (and optionally, the cherries themselves, depending on whether you like eating them) will achieve the effect you want. Grenadine is another option, but it may be oversweet (or overpriced, though I kind of doubt this).

Best answer: In addition to grenadine, you can also buy Torani syrup (or similar) and add it to your drink of choice. This is often how they're made in restaurants (at least IME in the US!) that don't normally stock grenadine. If you have any store nearby that sells Torani or similar the bottles are usually just a few dollars and should last you quite a while.

Thanks for the question, as it provides ideas for those of us who would like caffeine-free cherry coke (which doesn't exist).

Does not. Grenadine is made from pomegranates.

Either Boylan's or Jones makes a cherry cola, I believe (and the latter makes an orange one, delicious, available everywhere I think). Boylan's is available at Lou Dawg's, King West @ Portland. DOn't know where else.
