Not Prince Michael. Prince who, though?

Looking for an out of print children's book entitled Prince _________, about a dog. Help?

A friend is getting married, and for her wedding gift, I'd like to buy her a set of books she remembers from her childhood. Unfortunately, I forget the most important part of the name. Things I do know:

-She read them in the mid-80's.
-There was a series of books, all about the adventures of a dog. (He was possibly a detective?)
-The word Prince was in the title. I believe it was part of the dog's name.
-I for some reason think the second part of the dog's name began with the letter M.

Suggestions for good rare or out of print book dealers also welcome. Thank you!

Best answer: The What-a-Mess series had a book called "Prince What-a-Mess."

Best answer: I came in to suggest Prince What-A-Mess, as well. However, I don't remember him being a detective, just a dog who's running around and getting into everything in hilarious ways.

Could it Enid Blyton's series of books with the "Five Find-Outers and Dog"? One title is "...& the Missing Prince"...

The only other detective dog I can think of is Wishbone. He RAWKS!

For used, hard to find, and out of print books, I enjoy ABE Booksellers. Many other bookfinder sites link to it.

You might also try Half.com, the book site related to eBay.

Alibris is also a favorite site, and I see there is a new site called hardtofindbooks.com

Also try booksamillion.com

The "Jack Russell, Dog Detective" books come to mind.

Not "Champion Dog Prince Tom" by Jean Fritz? Not a series, and older than the 1980s.

A great book! It was the first thing I thought of until the part about the letter M.
