Bumpy donuts needed.

Looking for Bay Area donut shops that can provide donuts with modified shapes.

There was a donut shop in San Jose back in 2003 or so that would take the donut hole pre-frying and stick it right back on the side of the donut, so you got a bonus donut bump. I don't know the name of the shop, or if it still exists (this would be nice to know). I am looking for something similar in the San Francisco bay area, a baker that could do almost the exact same thing -- pre-modify the shape, adding singular/multiple bumps -- to a small quantity of donuts (~3-6 dozen).

Ask the nearest non-chain bakery, I'll bet they whip you up a batch.

Response by poster: Sorry, forgot to mention I've talked to at least seven bakeries, and they've all said no.

well, part of the problem is that most bakeries these days don't form their donuts (and likewise bagels) by hand - there are some pretty awesome machines that form the dough for you. It slices it into chunks, then smooshes it flat-ish, then rolls it around a pipe, basically, to give it a hole.

What I'm trying to say is there is the no extra dough from the hole to just add on.

this was the actual "dunkin donut" that the dunkin donut chain of stores was named after. the idea was you could dip your donut in your coffee using the bump as a handle.

Psycho-donuts has pre-weirded doughnuts for your consumption. They would probably do custom weird if you asked.
