What is this Japanese "candy"?

A friend of mine received several boxes of some sort of "candy" from his friend in Tokyo. There isn't any English on the box. We can't figure out what it is exactly. The food inside is little jelly-like mounds. They're also a bit pasty, sticky, and not particularly sweet. Here is a link to a scan of the box.

Based on this, it sounds/looks like chestnut mochi.

That looks like chestnut mochi to me. Maybe made with agar/bean paste. Pretty common.

Mochi, yes, but three flavors, apparently: walnut, chestnut, and mugwort.

I second adamrice -- looks like it's a variety pack.
