name an art house movie about two gay HIV positive blokes

YetAnotherHalf-RememberedMovieFilter. So I saw this film, probably in 1992. It was an American, art-house dealie, with two gay HIV positive blokes, who meet, hook up, and drive across the US. [You'll never guess where I put the more]
One of the guys is angry, nihilistic and carries a gun. The other is very SNAG and involved with community support groups and so on. There's a bit where the SNAG type gets bashed by a bunch of homophobes, and then gun-guy goes mental, shoots some people, and they drive off into a dystopian doomed sunset, sort of. Or possibly the gun guy gets bashed, does some shooting, and car-jacks the SNAG one.
So, did I just make this all up, or does such a film really exist? (sorry, I have trouble enough with Hollywood-type actors, I've no idea who was in this)

I recall it was reviewed as the Gay Thelma & Louise, which I'm sure the filmmakers were just pleased as punch about.

I recall it as the gay T&L myself, but I remember more one of the characters always getting obsence phone calls from (what sounded like, iirc) old men, which was something that plagued me in my youth. I haven't seen the movie in 10 years, maybe I should again. [/tangent]

I wondered myself. Urban Dictionary offers up Sensitive New Age Guy. I can't guarantee that's right, of course.

[derail] Actually, lodurr, in the Christine Lavin song, it's also Sensitive New Age Guys. If you know the song, my favorite line is always "we're sensitive, but not that sensitive!" but I suppose you had to be there. [/derail]
