Canadian webpages to print pages

Can you name any published Canadian bloggers?

I saw this question already, but time has moved on and I'm specifically wondering about Canadian bloggers (or internet self-publishers if they can't be called bloggers for some reason) who have moved into print.

Also, if anyone knows of any Canadian publishers who have put out a notable amount of internet-affiliated works, I'd be interested in hearing about them too.

Cory Doctorow of Boingboing is Canadian, is he not? Has written a couple of books, incl. Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom...

Does Cory Doctorow of BoingBoing count, although he lives in London, UK now?

Ezra Levant? He used to publish the "Western Standard", so I guess he's published. But I think both the magazine and blog grow from the sxame root (Levant) as opposed to him going from blogger to published author.

Canadian knitting blogger Stephanie Pearl-McPhee has published a bunch of books.

Jim Munroe.

And that MeFite who was against Canadian Health Care in a thread not so long ago--she apparently lives in Hamilton. Sorry, I forget her name. She has a blog about faeries or elves or something.

Here's her site. (And no, I have no idea what the point of it is.)

Also, along the lines of Levant, you'll find that lots of Canadian journos maintain full-blown blogs separate from their published work. Matthew Ingram, Antonia Zerbisias, etc.

Wait. Have I misunderstood the question? Are you looking for Canadian bloggers who've had a book published or Canadian bloggers who've had their blog published as a book? Or both?

Both.

I mainly want to know about people who were known from their web-presence before being published in the "traditional" ways, but I do realize that it is 2009 and that trying to make that sort of distinction is a little odd and difficult.

The guy who does Stuff White People Like, the book and the blog, is a Torontonia. Not sure if he's actually Canada-based though.

Because he's far too classy to blow his own horn on this, my friend/ex-roommate Darren Barefoot is a pretty well-known social media blogger whose first book, "Friends with Benefits," comes out in November.

Oh, and his blog is here.

Tara Ariano was one of the founders of Television Without Pity, and, as 'Wing Chun', wrote several blogs. She was well-known online before she published a satiric novel and a couple of blog compilations. She is from Regina originally and then Toronto and now lives in New York, I think.

Some biggies are missing:

Mitch Joel (Six Pixels of Separation blog and now book). Also seen in En route magazine and several Canwest newspapers weekly.

Tara Hunt is Canadian though she was based in SF for a while. Book: The Whuffie Factor; blog: HorsePigCow.

Julien Smith is one of two authors of Trust Agents (blog = In over your head)

Also one of the most direct examples of this is Craig Silverman, whose blog Regret the error was expanded into a very good book.

Well that's embarrassing - I neglected to put Caroline in my answer though she is my business partner and we work together every day.

One other from the francophone side of things is Stanley Péan, who has written many novels and collections of stories and is also an excellent blogger.
