Be there square?

"Later that day, Arthur Mgqweto, a math teacher, strode into the classroom, jauntily wearing a township take on the fedora called a square." A square?

From a New York Times article, can somebody point me to a more complete description or better yet a picture of a (South African) square? This Arthur Mgqweto guy sounds like a cool cat.

Best answer: Did you see the photo of Mgqweto next to the article?

Also my flickr friend says this fedora is a square.

Response by poster: Sheesh, that was somewhat obvious. Thanks effigy!
