Zwack Unicum in Seattle? I am trying to find it for a Hungarian friend. Anyone know where to find this liquor?

Oh, Zwack. It tastes like cough syrup. But worse.

You can try calling your friendly local liquor store and seeing if they can special order it for you (since they do carry some Zwack products) or the ZigZag Cafe, which appears to have an excellent collection of herbal liqueurs and other harder to find spirits.

It was on the special order list for the Washington State Liquor Control Board, but it seems to be discontinued. It was $307.20 for a case of 12 0.75 L bottles. You can ask them if they'll special order it for you anyway, but you need to buy a case and wait six to eight weeks. I don't think it's legal to purchase spirits for consumption off the premises anywhere else in Washington State.

"Zwack Liqueur," on the other hand, is in stock for sale by the bottle in several Seattle WSLCB stores.

Response by poster: Zwack Liquor is the American branding of Unicum. Practically the same thing. Once I realized that the other night, I saw that it was easily available. But thanks all.

Are you sure? The pricing is certainly very different.

Not quite the same thing: Zwack is Unicum Next, which is lighter, sweeter and has a cherry flavouring for that cough syrup taste; original Unicum is much more bitter (Fernet Branca-ish) and even more medicinal, but nearly impossible to find in the US.
