Can you recommend a great dentist in Toronto?

Can anyone recommend a great or really good dentist in Toronto? I've seen a few names mentioned in related AskMe questions over the past couple of years, but I'd like to know if these people are still recommended or if anyone else is worth checking out.

I get cavities very rarely, but I may need some fillings replaced over the next few years. All I really need now are regular checkups and cleaning, although I am considering a bridge and potentially a referral to an orthodontist for braces in the future. So I'm looking for a good all-around dentist who knows their stuff and can clearly communicate with me.

Still a big fan of Dr. Joe DaCosta, 700 Bay Street. Nice guy, and won't push you into getting stuff done that's not necessary.

Response by poster: Wow. We may need a dentist cage match to help me make my final choice.

Thanks, everyone. I'll start calling around this week.

You might prefer somebody who actually teaches dental anæsthesia and is no-bullshit. In that case, you want Peter Copp, 961-2279. You will feel no pain whatsoever. Dental Anesthesia Associates or something is the company. They are reputed to be the second-most-expensive dentists in the city.

Dr. George Oszoli of Beaches Dental, on Queen St E near Woodbine Ave.

When we lived in the Beaches, I asked a friend in the neighbourhood for a recommendation and she said her two daughters (then 6 and 9, I think) would get excited say, "Can we go in and see George?" when they walked past the dentist's office.

He is calm and soothing, speaks straightforward with no BS, has taught me more about my teeth than any other dentist, doesn't do unnecessary work, and works in a very gentle manner.
