A Wooden Soldier, not Kaw-Liga but Just as Sad

Anyone remember who sang a 1950s (maybe early 60s)-era song about a wooden soldier and a doll of clay?
My Google-fu is failing me. I can remember the tune and many of the lyrics, but I cannot find the name of the artist who sang this melancholy song of my youth. This was an old 45 my Mom had, and it used to make me cry as a kid. The lyrics were approximately:
A wooden soldier, and a doll of clay
Were brought together
At the art display.
But someone took them
Took them apart
And the wooden soldier lost the battle
For her heart.
Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Response by poster: No, sorry, that's not it.
