Jet pump troubleshooting at the cottage

Help! We're at the cottage and we're having problems with the jet pump system.

We installed a new jet pump and we're not seeing enough pressure to reach prime. We checked the intake line and it's filled with water and doesn't appear to have any holes. We also just installed a new foot valve. What else should we be checking? Help us get water to our cottage!

Are you sure your pump is self-priming? Many aren't. If yours is supposed to be, and you've just replaced the foot valve, are you sure you got that right (check action in the correct direction, etc.)?
