10 hour layover in Miami....What to do?

On Friday I have a long layover in Miami - more than ten hours. I arrive at nine thirty in the morning and don't leave until eight at night. Suggestions on ways to pass the time, whether going into the city or doing something else are welcome!

You didn't really mention what kind of things you like to do, but here's what I like to do when I go to Miami. Walk down Lincoln Road--there are lots of good restaurants and shops to people watch.

Perhaps someone has advice about a good place for them ... but I always go for the Cuban Sandwiches. FYI: the pork type, not the the Mark type

I had an unexpected 6-hour layover in Miami in February (missed my connecting flight; didn't want to leave the airport because I was too paranoid). I texted a couple of friends who travel a lot for business, and they both mentioned that the Burger King in the Miami airport was something I should visit.

I ultimately didn't, because I was scared to miss my flight (I'd gotten lost and gone to the wrong gate, so I wanted to find the right gate for the next flight and STAY PUT), but if two people both recommended the same airport Burger King, it may be worth just going and looking at the dang thing to see what the fuss is about.

Miami Jai Alai is a quick cab ride from the airport and is a uniquely Floridian experience.

Best answer: Miami Beach is a great place to walk around. Lincoln Road is a good suggestion. Lots of shops, restaurants and galleries. Ocean Drive is great people-watching, and fun for lunch and drinks. Calle Ocho (in the city of Miami, not Miami Beach) is full of Cuban stores, restaurants, markets, etc...It doesn't have the glamour of the Beach, but it's great. Just be sure to leave enough time to get back to the airport. Miami traffic is terrible!
