Camping in Green Bay, WI area

Going to be in Wisconsin this weekend around the Green Bay area. Can anyone suggest a good campground around there? We are going to be tent camping but would like a campground that has a shower since we are road tripping.

I stopped trough there on a road trip. I stayed on the Bay, by a small lighthouse. The names on this website sound right: http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/Potawatomi/camping.htm

Basically, Sturgeon Bay in Door County.

Best answer: If an hour out of Green Bay isn't too far, I'd suggest Point Beach State Forest. On Lake Michigan, dunes and piney forest ecosystem with newer bath houses.

Weekend nights will require a reservation (maybe any nice campsite will need a reservation theses August weekends).

You're going to be hard-pressed to find a weekend campsite anywhere in Wisconsin. They have been filling up to capacity (with lines at the crack of dawn for day-of walk-ins).

I would suggest visiting the reservation website as soon as possible. Peninsula State Park, while a bit of a drive, would be the best in the eastern-half of the state. Also, Rock Island would be the farthest but most-unique. No showers, too...

Response by poster: We stayed at Point Beach State Forest and it was fabulous. Thanks, Readery!
