Help me plan a super memorable, creative, unique and wonderful 30th birthday.

My husband turns 30 in a month, and I'm looking for really creative, fabulous, memorable ways for us to celebrate it with him. Something surprising, something unique. Mefi always has such creative suggestions, so I'm really hoping you can give me some amazing ideas.

Since my husband is a foodie, I thought about throwing a dinner or picnic with 30 of his favorite flavours - you know, tiny samples of 30 things he loves best. Or a 30 favorite songs mix tape. 30 gifts that he opens throughout the day. 30 surprises. A treasure hunt where I tie the first clue to his toe while he's sleeping, and send him off in search of 30 clues in 30 locations. Things of that nature. Or perhaps you can do better...

Fun, mischief, public venues, surprises, luxury; whatever.

I should also mention we're in Sydney, so if any Sydney-siders can come up with a unique, wonderful, impressive or bizarre location in conjunction with some other ideas of celebratory inventiveness, I would be so grateful.

Some facts about the guy which may help with ideas: Indy/country/rock/lo-fi music lover, skilled and experienced outdoorsman, incredible cook and hugely enthusiastic gastronome, rock climber, frisbee throwing genius, quite stylish and dresses well, loves astronomy and other sciences, beer obsessed and into home brewing, likes to eat at the best restaurants, cyclist (whole family are), mad cricket enthusiast, digs travel and adventure, loves literature and ideas, great sense of humour.

Because of the industry he works in, gathering a huge number of pals together may be a challenge, if not impossible. his family live on the other side of planet earth, and he misses them, so no chance of gathering them together, really, excepting Skype.

Also... we will be bringing our two year old along for the ride, so it needs to be stuff, within reason, that junior can came along and enjoy too. Cycling is OK in this regard - he goes on my bike.
On second thoughts - if you have an awesome idea for night or adventure, tell me that too, and I will arrange for a babysitter.

For my 30th I got a piƱata filled with travel-size booze plastic booze bottles. The rest of the party was spent with friends attempting to finish said bottles. Also, there was apple pie. Best birthday ever.

Save up your money, hop over to New Zealand, and go Zorbing. Seriously. I've had the opportunity to do a lot of neat stuff in my life, and this is the most fun I have ever had. Make sure you do the two-person, wet version. Once you're there, Rotorua is also a fun place to explore with its geysers and other geothermal anomalies.
