Where to host 90th birthday party for 30 people near Providence, RI?
Hosting a 90th birthday party for my grandmother during Columbus Day weekend. The family all leaves in SE Mass and Northern RI, so we'd like to have something in that area. I am looking for a venue that would hold 30 people comfortably, either brunch or dinner. Relatively inexpensive, thinking $25/pp not including booze. I am from Colorado so I am having a hard time finding a place without any knowledge of the area... Any thoughts/ideas?? Thanks so much!

I don't know about prices, but Madeira has the capacity and has absolutely excellent (Portuguese) food. There's contact info on the website.

My brother had a nice graduation party in a space connected to Everyman. Food was great. The only issue for you might be the high ceilings in the loft-like space, which could make it hard for older people to hear conversations. But there was a nice little courtyard connected to it, and at my brother's party a lot of the older folks migrated out there.

The Johnson & Wales Inn in Seekonk, MA, has flexible function spaces. The staff are all culinary or hotel management students from Johnson & Wales University in downtown Providence, so they're Trying Really Hard. The restaurant, Audrey's, is good, too.
(Yes, I work at JWU now, but I am not pimping them, as we did my rehersal dinner there -- years before I was hired -- and it was great.)

Twin Oaks is/was beloved by every member of my family over 60, and has nice private rooms. I've been there for countless birthday parties and post-funeral meals. Same with the Country Inn .

What about Rhodes on the Pawtuxet? It's a historic building where people host banquets, weddings and other events. It's in Cranston.
