song ID: '...you're my butterfly...'

Asking on behalf of a friend... 'One day back in 2004 or 2005 I heard a song played on the radio. All I remember is that the song was fairly long, and that at some point it descended into a kind of blissed-out psychedelia, and I remember a stoned-sounding voice saying 'You're my butterfly' with a sense of wonder.' Any ideas?

Possibly Butterfly by Crazy Town.

"You're my butterfly, sugar, baby"?

I somehow doubt it. Plus the song's only 3 minutes thirty or so.

Seconding Devendra Banhart's Lazy Butterfly.

Response by poster: We just listened to both those songs, and it's not either of them. I quite like the Banhart song though. But that's neither here nor there.

More clues: The song 'felt like ten minutes long' and the stoned voice sounded like the way Bootsy Collins sounded in that old Deee-Lite video, 'Groove is in the Heart'.

Response by poster: No, that's not it either. Relaxing though, isn't it?

Delta Goodrem's song? Doesn't seem to fit the description, though.

Butterfly by Lenny Kravitz

The Kravitz piece seems to fulfill the "stoned" aspect.

The Verve - Butterfly?

Butterfly - Donavon Frankenreiter

It may be The Verve, but perhaps Catching the Butterfly instead. It certainly seems to have the "blissed-out psychedelia" part down. Plus it's a little over seven minutes long.

The problem is that it doesn't have the "You Are My Butterfly" utterance. At least. I didn't detect it.

Neither Butterfly or Catching the Butterfly do, but I thought Butterfly felt more like "blissed-out psychedelia" and from identification AskMes in the past, it's not uncommon for people to mishear or misremember things.

Response by poster: 'Not Goodrem. Not Kravitz. Not The Verve. Not Frankenreiter.'

Thanks all for trying. I agree with juv3nal - it's possible that the song's not being entirely accurately recalled. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get a better description of the rest of the song - the only aspects that impressed my friend I described in my initial post. But I figured it was worth asking on the offchance that the song is roughly as described, and an obscure favorite of someone here, and that the one (apparently) clearly remembered lyric would help identification.

Long shot, but it could be Lucidity by Kinobe. Psychedelic music, stoned voice, about the right period too.

I once had some music on a tape just labelled something like Ǵoa Trance' and part of it had a stoned voice kind of monotonously (but optimistically?) saying:
Ï feel like a bulldozer, trying... to catch a butterfly¨

Not saying thatś it, but it does sound like it could be some kind of psychedelic trance track. Which does drastically reduce your chances of finding it on standard lyrics sites. Maybe thereś some trance sites out there with forums you could ask?

Could it be something by Boards of Canada? They could be described as (sort of quietly) blissed out and psychedelic, adn they often have odd vocal samples. I'm not at home, so I can't run through their songs, though...
