Wherein Whelk Wants Wonderful Words

Name My Blog! After years of creating things and then casually tossing them aside, I've decided to create a blog to put them all in. Cartoons, short fiction, audio clips, short video, etc. A bit like Lore's Bad Gods. The only problem is, I've got no idea what to call it.

I'm torn between something direct like "John Did That" or something that just sounds cool, "Automatic Inspiration" was a leading contender for a while. Want to avoid anything suggesting random, junk, or trash (Even though that's what it is, the whole theme is overused). Shower me with your minds, Mefites!

You're creative, but creating a name is doing you in.

Use that as your generative and call it...

The nice thing about a random collection of material is that you can have a random name associated with it. I have a habit of picking up domain names associated with various phrases that I come across or come up with. Bad Gods was the title of a story I was going to write someday. I had a site called Little Fluffy Industries, that was just a phrase I liked, probably influenced by Orb's "Little Fluffy Clouds." I named the old Wired blog Table of Malcontents based on a random pun I came up with years before, and more recently I registered dogsandsorcerers.com because I ran across the phrase in Revelation 22:15.

The point is that if you've been creating things and tossing them aside for years, there are probably some titles and phrases in those creations that you're fond of. I'd go over them and pick one that's short and that corresponds to a domain name that hasn't been registered yet.

Personally, I like simple, so I don't see how something like The Whelk by itself isn't sufficient. But then maybe you don't want to use your username (I see there is no reference to it on your website now). What comes to mind then might be something based on your name. I like

    Hah. Clever.

Problem with the "cool-sounding" phrases is that they lose their lustre unless they really mean something to you.

I was thinking today that "I have scissors" would be a good name for a craft blog (I own about eleventy-eight pairs of scissors.) So "I have [something]"?

Response by poster: Hey guys, I decided to go with THE WHELK, which you can find if you go to my site in my profile and click ..THE WHELK. Some of it is stuff I've done in Metafilter before, some not. I'm going to try for one *thing* a day for a while, see how that works. Again, thanks to everyone who helped!
