Finding a Video Game from My Past

Find This Video Game Filter: Arcade machine, may not exist on a console, reminiscent of Pitfall with better graphics, approximately 12-15 years ago, played it at a local drugstore. More Details inside. Please help a video game guy!

I am trying to locate a video game and I will outline everything I can possibly remember about it.

-It was an arcade cabinet
-The setting reminds me of Pitfall (looking back now) but it had much better graphics I would say maybe SNES or Genesis type graphics (thought I have never seen it on a console). Definitely NOT Pitfall or Pitfall 2. You were a guy going through a jungleish setting. I remember you could swing on vines and I remember you could go through a top path or a bottom path. I also remember there being bats.
-I THINK it was 12-15 years ago
-The exact machine I played was at a drug store in Williamsport, PA. (In Giant Plaza) The drugstore is not there anymore, I think it might have been a Rite Aid or maybe not a chain drugstore. (Here is the exact location - The Giant Plaza)

I realize that probably the only thing to work off of here is the description of the game and maybe the time period but this has been driving me crazy as an avid video game player. Please help me Hive!

P.S. If you think of anything else that could be assistance let me know and I will try to help.

Swinging on vines sounds like Jungle Hunt (or King), though it didn't have multiple-platform levels and is too early for your time frame.

Look around at the platform games on KLOV, you should be able to filter it by time frame.

George of the Jungle?

Response by poster: @boncliff yeah i checked both jungle hunt and jungle king before. neither of them are it. I think it had better graphics then both of those and I am almost positive there are multiple-platform levels. It is a side scroller though. I will check that site. Thanks!

@torquemaniac Do you have a screenshot of George of the Jungle. I didn't think it was that but I can't find a picture of the arcade game. Thanks!

Have you tried asking the Underdogs Forum?

Maybe this one?

Response by poster: @logicpunk that image isn't coming up for me.

That KLOV site is nice but you can only have 50 results as one time and can't flip through the rest of the pages or results.

Best answer: This one's a long shot, but is it Rastan? Not a jungle setting, but you've got vines, bats and multiple levels with Genesis/Super Nintendo-era graphics. Video.

Maybe Flashback?

If I were a betting man, I'd also say Rastan.

Response by poster: @oulipian definitely not flashback

@eschatfische Wow... if this isn't it, it is the closest that I have seen so far. This isn't what I remembered but it is VERY CLOSE. Anything else that you know that is similar? Anyone recognize a game like Rastan?

Thanks so much guys!

Wait... is it Black Tiger?

One of my favorite games of all time and one of the only ones I could finish with a single quarter.

Best answer: Okay. After watching videos on Youtube I realized that I thought it was similar because the Sega Master System (Rastan Saga) one that is on there is pretty close but the video of this one (just Rastan) as you said looks like it is it. The graphics are better than the master system one and I am sure that the arcade one is like this one.

Thank you guys so much. AskMF rules for sure.

My next guess was also Black Tiger. Also, maybe Astyanax or Act Raiser.
